New Drama Club - Presentation and Meeting Thursday, January 15 at 8:10 AM
Discovery School is starting an after-school Drama program! The program will consist of two after-school classes, separated by age: Class I=1st thru 5th grade and Class II=6th thru 12th grade. Class I will meet either Monday or Wednesday (to be discussed) and Class II will meet Tuesday AND Thursday. Students will have the opportunity to work alone and in groups. They will develop skills in several types of theatre (such as drama and improv) as well as increase enjoyment and appreciation for the performing arts. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a recital (3rd quarter) and a play (4th quarter).
Please plan to attend a schoolwide assembly Thursday the 15th in the gym, starting at 8:10 a.m. Students will participate in a brief introduction to drama. This will give parents the opportunity to get a sense of what the program will be about. We will also have information sheets, volunteer sign-ups and a question and answer session. The timeline in the morning will look something like this:
8:10 students arrive and begin assembly; (what is Drama?)
8:30 elementary students are dismissed; secondary students and parents have Question-and-Answer with drama teacher.
8:50 secondary students dismissed for class. assembly over.

January DPTO Meeting Next Wednesday, January 14 at 6:00 PM, Cafe Mania
REUNION MENSUAL DEL DPTO Miércoles 14 de enero 6 PM Café Manía (junto al Honduras Medical Center, 2ndo Piso)
Se tomaran decisiones importantes en esta reunión sobre eventos y finanzas para esta primavera. Por favor asistan, ya que su opinión y colaboración es muy importante.
La agenda es la siguiente:
-Balance de Cuentas-Balance actual y presupuesto de gastos para la primavera-mas mesas, reciclaje, día de apreciación para los maestros, otras peticiones recibidas.
-Eventos para la primavera? Tomar una decisión si queremos hacer una actividad para recaudar fondos: modelaje, noche de películas, u otro?
-Día de Apreciación para los Maestros-delinear un plan para la semana de apreciación en el mes de mayo.
-Perfiles para los puestos de trabajo del DPTO-Revisar los puestos y someterlos a Debra para ser aprobados y estar listos par alas elecciones de mayo.
-Hacer un resumen de las metas para el resto del año (por ejemplo ayudar al concejo estudiantil o con un programa de reciclaje)

Important Decisions will be made at this meeting concerning events and funds for Spring. Please come as your input is important!
Agenda will be as follows:
-Account Balance-Current Balance and Spring Budget/expenditures- Funding requests for more cafeteria tables, Recycling project, Teacher Appreciation, Other requests
-Spring events? Make a decision on if we want to do a spring fundraiser: movie night, fashion show,flea market or other?
-Teacher Appreciation- Develop plan for May Appreciation Week
-Job descriptions for DPTO positions - Discuss positions and plan for May elections
-Summarize goals for rest of year- ie-help STUCO build recycling program, other?
